THE HEART OF TESHUVAH

"If My people, who are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."  2 Chr. 7:14  

Teshuvah is Hebrew for Return/Repent.  Learning our Hebraic Roots reveals more of our Father's Ways, His Calendars and Appointed Seasons.  While Repentance is a 365-day call, our Father has an Appointed Season for Teshuvah.  For example, as Believers, we are to give thanks every day, yet we also recognize a season each November for "Thanksgiving."

Moses was the first to walk out the 40 days of Teshuvah after the sin of the golden calf.  YHVH (The LORD) also sent Jonah to Nineveh to deliver a 40-day Call to Repentance probably during Teshuvah, our Father's Appointed Season for Repentance.  We read that John the Baptist came forth in the season of Teshuvah heralding the Call to Repentance to Prepare the Way for the Messiah. Through Repentance the Spirit is removing scales from our eyes, and softening our encrusted hearts to understand our Father's Call and return to His Hebraic Ways.

Each year since 2007, MNL has published an illustrated Teshuvah Prayer Guide. Thousands of these Guides are mailed out from our small Ministry hoping to awaken people to the importance of returning to repentance during this Season.  We also make the Prayer Guide available online for download, so that people across the world have access to the materials.  The publication is specifically designed to assist with a Repentance focus.  It is sadly true, generally speaking, that Christians are unaware of the history of the Church in regards to its treatment of the Jewish people and its misunderstanding of the Torah.  MNL has long sought to remedy this condition with detailed articles, teachings, and Scriptural references.  The daily prayer focus for the Teshuvah period addresses the following areas: Personal/Family, Church/Pastors, our Nation, and Israel. 

"'But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors--their unfaithfulness and their hostility toward me, which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies--then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.'"  Lev. 26:40-42

"I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to YHVH";  And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah."  Psa 32:5

THE DAYS OF TESHUVAH

Teshuvah spans the 40-day period from the 6th Hebrew month of Elul thru Tishrei 10, Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) in the 7th month.  This period coincides with the Gregorian calendar months of August/September.  In modern times the month of Elul has 29 days, making the prayer days total only 39.  However, when we include the last day of the 5th month - Av 30  filling out the full 40-day period.  Since the start of each Hebraic day actually begins at sunset, this year- 2016 we began Teshuvah for the first time before sunset on Av 30.  This year Av 30 had the remarkable feature of being a Sabbath day with the beginning of Rosh Chodesh Elul (New Month Elul) at sunset. 

MNL has come to realize the importance of prioritizing our Father's Sacred Appointments.  The beginning of each new month (called "Rosh Chodesh") honors the rhythm of timekeeping so essential to marking the Feasts or Holy Days of our Creator.  We know that the new moon/month of Tishrei is designated as Rosh HaShannah (Head of The Year) and also called Yom Teruah (Day of the Awakening Blast).  The entire calendar is framed around this important date which occurs during the Teshuvah period!  It marks the beginning of the 10 Days of Awe leading up to Yom Kippur.

Eph 2:12-14 "Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ (Messiah), alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the Covenants of the Promise, without hope and without God in the world.  But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ (Messiah).  For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in His flesh the law with its commands and regulations (all of its man-made laws and regulations).  His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace."

Beloved Believers - The Commandments/Torah Teachings have not been "done away with", and the "Lion of the Tribe of Judah" (Rev. 5:5) will soon open the seals and return for His Commandment-keeping Bride (Rev. 14:2)!
